Cyber security is one of the best careers I have seen till now. You can work from wherever you want and how you can. Becoming a software developer and becoming a cyber security analyst is quite different.

Cyber security vs Computer Science

Without any further delay, let’s get started on the topic of Cyber security Career path.

Cybersecurity has different careers where you can land a job easily. You don’t need an actual degree for cyber security. You can get a few skills and certifications for this.

Three different levels of careers in cyber security which you might already know as

  1. Entry-level
  2. Mid-level
  3. Advanced Level

Entry-level

Cyber Security at the career entry level has different opportunities for a beginner. Great skills and a few certifications can offer you a job easily. Entry level has a few certifications you need to take CompTIA Security+ and CEH exams. If you pass this, you may get a few roles based on your certifications and skills. The roles would be in different sectors of Networking, Auditing, System engineering, and IT support. You can work as a Cybersecurity specialist, analyst others.

Mid-level

Having different options in the mid-level of cyber security career path you can choose one of the best careers. I also like being in that position which is a Penetration tester. I like being a penetration tester and working on different projects. The future would be on pen-testing as AI came into existence. It does the work that a software engineer can do. Pentester will become more valuable in the future.  

You need good pen-testing skills for this. While becoming a pen-tester one should have some great security skills and understand how networking works. So get some skills in networking and start being a pentester.

Roles in Mid-level 

  1. Cyber security analyst
  2. Consultant in cyber security 
  3. Penetration and vulnerability tester.

One can get anything online. Learn the skills required for a penetration tester. Mid-level is one of the secure levels in cyber security. Once you pass the entry level with experience you can land a job in mid-level.

Advanced Level

There you go, Here comes the last level of cyber security careers. The advanced level. You can call it one o[f the most advanced levels in cyber security. One needs to have high knowledge and skills in Networking and auditing. Advanced-level jobs are the most secure. You can work as a consultant for a company or advisor for it. At an advanced level, You need to have complete knowledge of cybersecurity tools and on networking. Tools that help you to find vulnerabilities and deploy them and networking that helps you understand how the internet is transmitted. 

One of the best competitions worldwide that helps you to secure the whole organization. Here you have 

  1. Cybersecurity manager
  2. Architect
  3. Engineer 

These are the three roles that are in the advanced level of cyber security.

Skills and Knowledge 

To get any of these roles you need to have a few skills in understanding the networking concepts and tools that work to identify vulnerabilities and deploy them. Start with basics and read books. Spend at least one hour a day for practical sessions. This helps you to find out what you are in cyber security. Starting with basics and entering into cybersecurity helps you to land a job easily. Get certified with a few courses like CEH, CompTIA+, and CISSP.
